How do I Get More Website Traffic?

Get More Website VisitorsToo many times have I met business owners that complain about never receiving a substantial amount of incoming traffic to their website. They might be receiving a few visitors a day, but they knew that they had the potential to attract a much larger crowd.

For anyone who is looking for a way to increase their websites amount of incoming traffic, this list will give you a few different options to help you get started.

1. Visit Google.com and search for your domain.

Be sure that your domain is at the least showing up in Google Search. If not, it is possible that you have a META Tag or setting that is prohibiting your website to showing up in Google. If you are not showing up, contact us and we would be more than happy to help you out.

Ok, so you are showing up in Google, but you are not happy with your Search Traffic or Rankings in Google. You will need to look into your SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Be sure to setup Google Places Business!! This will allow people to find your company locally. If you do not have a “storefront” be sure to still use the other Google options.

  • Google Plus for Business
  • Google Adsense
  • Google Offers

Perhaps we should back up a step, do you know how much traffic your website is receiving? No? You need Google Analytics. It’s FREE! There are several other Traffic Reporting software solutions, but we have never used these because Google Analytics is the amazing. Here is a checklist to setting up Google Analytics.

So let’s assume that your website is retrofit with Google Analytics, and your website is showing up in Google Search results. The best next step we recommend is using your Twitter to drive traffic to your website. If you do not have a Twitter Account, read 12 Reasons to Start Tweeting and also Twitter Tips for Beginners.

2. Create a Facebook Business and Fan Page

Being on Facebook does not guarantee web traffic.

We recommend a giveaway on Facebook or some  other promotion to build your Facebook Fan Page. This in turn will give you a bigger network to push your products and services. One of the top promotional tools we have used is Wildfire Apps. This App will give your Facebook Fan page all the functions to grow your Facebook Likes and drive traffic to your website.

Along with the Wildfire App, we suggest spending a small budget to push traffic to your offer, Free Giveaway, Cash Giveaway, iPad giveaway or giving away a product of yours. This will be done on the Facebook Platform with Targeted Ads, set your budget and watch your Likes stack up. Be sure to have an offer!!

3. Be sure to keep up with your Blog!

Use Tumblr.com if you do not already have a blog.

Tumblr is easy to setup, and there are tons of great templates to install. Once installed, this will also drive some traffic to your site, but will most likely serve as a Hub between Twitter, Facebook, your other social networks and your website.

4. Add your website to your Email Signature!

Why not? It takes 2 seconds to add your website to your email signature and depending on how many emails you send per day, you could receive a few extra visits.

5. Setup a Newsletter!

We recommend Mailchimp! This emailing platform is the easiest we have found to setup the Lead Capture, and also the Emails that are sent. Best of all, it is FREE to get started!!

6. Advertising on other Websites

7. Target Less-Competitive Keywords

If you have a brand new website and you’re trying to rank for highly competitive keywords, you’re basically hitting your head against a brick wall. The websites that are ranking on page 1 for those specific keywords are usually giants that won’t easily be knocked off their pedestal.

What most people don’t know, is that you can target keywords that have a low amount of competition and still a nice sum of traffic. This won’t be nearly as much traffic as you would receive from one of the highly competitive keywords, but its best practice to take baby steps. Once you get your site ranking on page 1 for a few easy keywords, you can then plan to target the more competitive keywords.

Using Long-Tail keywords is another great strategy to get more website traffic. To do this, you need to be more specific. All that this means, is that instead of using short keyword phrases such as “Best Miami Restaurant”, you need to be more specific. Use longer phrases that pertain to exactly what your service or product is. If I had a business in Miami that specialized in breakfast food and had an awesome bakery, I would possibly target the keyword phrase “Best Miami Breakfast Bakery” or “Best Chocolate Muffins in South Beach”
